Excellent service. Called Barnes Wildlife Control at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 24, 2013. He came to our house at 4:00 PM the same day and verified that we had one or more raccoons in our attic, determined the entry location, inspected the damaged attic area and installed necessary traps.
We called Barnes Wildlife Control to check on what we believed were birds in the attic. Jacob arrived promptly and did a complete survey of the attic with pictures. There were several areas in the attic that had been used as nesting. He also discovered that birds were entering through an unsealed space between the exhaust fan vent pipe and the opening of the wall to the outside. I would definitely use this company again.
Raccoon mother had birthed twins some 4 months ago. I trapped her myself but could not locate the babies. Barnes sealed off attic where we were hearing babies & proceeded methodically to isolate & capture them. Barnes worked carefully to drive babies into an ever-smaller space & prevent them from moving again before they could be captured. Sanitary clean up & deodorization were important steps in Barnes’ service since raccoon feces carry many virulent diseases.
It was a gross and smelly adventure for me to see. The men who performed the work were so professional and very, very good at their job. I was very impressed. The job had a lot of road blocks, but they handled the situations very well. They cleaned up everything. They took care of the smell which was from a dead raccoon. I would highly recommend these gentlemen.
Fantastic service and work. We had a mole problem. They were able to come out quickly and took care of the problem. They finished the work, and two weeks later I saw a fresh trail. They came back out and promptly caught another mole for us. I was very happy with their service and would not hesitate to recommend them.

Barnes Wildlife Control was excellent at taking care of a pest problem and catching a vandal that was tampering with the live traps. David with Barnes was a pleasure to work with and delivered more than he contractually agreed to. The professional from Barnes knew his stuff! We had a pesky raccoon living in our attic. We were able to get a removal professional out immediately and the next morning the culprit had been caught. I have used Barnes Wildlife 3 separate times for removal of raccoons and groundhogs from beneath a house that I am restoring. They have been wonderful to work with – reliable, professional, and trustworthy. On each occasion, they dealt with the problem and successfully closed the point of entry: despite their best efforts, the wildlife have not been able to re-enter in the areas that have been addressed by Barnes Wildlife. I would highly recommend Jacob and his company to anyone needing their services and expertise.

Updated review – I recently moved into a new home, and once again found critters living in our house. Barnes Wildlife came out found the problem was mice and after 2 weeks of trapping, things are now quiet. This is the second time I have had to use this company and very good service both times.

We called Barnes Wildlife Control to check on what we believed were birds in the attic. They removed the nest and sanitized the attic. Great and affordable service!
We were invaded by moles. We had put our house up for sale and within a short period of time the moles showed up and had done a tremendous amount of damage to the yard. I called Barnes wildlife control and they were out the next day, explained the process and set the underground traps. Within a week they were out 3 times, emptied and reset traps and got rid of the moles. No new lines have shown up. The gentleman who took care of the process was very nice and thorough. I would recommend them highly.

We called Barnes for help with a mouse we could hear trapped in our walls. Since we knew exactly where it was, their technician talked us through what steps to take to take care of it free of charge. He was very thorough and professional. He was upfront about the costs and what the service would entail, and allowed us to work around the charge. Will go back to them if necessary!

I live in Sidney, Ohio, and I have used Barnes Wildlife Control several times to trap and remove raccoons on our property. I had 2 mother raccoon and 6 baby raccoon in my attic. Jacob and his crew were very professional and helpful in removing the raccoon and fixing the roof so I would not have any additional problems. They were very knowledge, answered all of my questions and took great care of my property. They are the best. Now I can sleep again.
I just met the gentleman that came out to Mars Hill Drive in Villa South condos. He was extremely polite, professional, and knowledgeable. He was so informative and took the time to explain to my husband and I how his business works and other services be they provide. I own 3 acres outside of town and because of this gentleman I will be calling your business for any animal issues I run into. I hate that I don’t recall the gentleman’s name but he has brown hair, about 5’9″ and in his mid 30’s.
Had several great experiences with Barnes. The technician who came was great. Very knowledgeable, very professional and very friendly. He made several trips out and we were pleased every time. We had a squirrel in our attic along with mice and even a snake. We ended up getting the whole house seal. Never seen such a thorough job. Very pleased. Had one interaction with the owner and couldn’t be more pleased with the customer service all the way up.

I use them and they are simply the Best! The service techs are honest, friendly, knowledgeable with Fair Prices. My first experience was with Jack when I was having a critter problem in our house. He came out, set some traps and in 2 days we had our raccoon. When I told Jack about some house electrical problems I was having he recommended Jake Barnes. Jake came out the next day, gave me an estimate and then came back and got everything straightened out and working. I’ve had NO PROBLEMS since. When I showed Jake a troublesome plumbing installation that had been lingering and delayed he offered to stay longer that same day and work on it. Well, he figured it out, got everything installed and I’ve had NO Plumbing Problems since. Barnes has also installed an electric fireplace for me, fixed my electrical outdoor lamp post and resolved a swarming carpenter ant problem. To sum it up, I’ve always gotten great service, my home’s fixed up and I’m a very satisfied customer! They are definitely my go to guys and will be yours too! Plus, They give military discounts.

My experiences with Barnes Wildlife Control:
In the summer of 2018, I was greeted by a Bat flying around the finished portion of my basement. Undeterred, I was able to remove the bat myself without injury to it, OR myself. (*Note: Not for the faint of heart, and I probably would not do this a 2nd time…).
I weakly convinced myself that the stray bat was an abnormality, and a singular occurrence, and that I did not have to worry about more such incidents. Unfortunately, over the next few weeks I was unable to ignore the growing number of “sounds”(rustling-movement) that I was hearing in the upstairs walls. I was now realizing that the “singular” bat incident was something more, and that the lone bat that I had evicted was one of possibly many others that had somehow found their way into my 2nd floor walls and/or attic space. I guessed that my previous bat-guest and was able to migrate down the wall space in order to seek the cooler temperatures of the basement area.
I scoured the internet, and found that Pest Control Companies abound. However, Barnes Wildlife control stood out to me as a more “sound” choice. The next day I called and was greeted by literally the MOST professional person that I have ever dealt with over the phone. My numerous questions were answered thoroughly and patiently by Melissa. My original instincts were confirmed correct, and I was pacified that I was now dealing with a professional organization.
Although Barnes Wildlife is a smaller-locally owned Organization, I would have bet my paycheck that I was dealing with a larger organization based on their systematic approach to my appoint scheduling-Q&A-etc…. It was apparent that the person I was talking too was not only polite and professional, she was very knowledgeable and well trained. Melissa and I set an appointment for the initial inspection. I initially balked at the inspection price and questioned what would be included in that process and why the expense? Melissa explained in detail what would be done, and assured me that the Tech would be a subject matter expert.
On the day of the Service, I was phoned by the tech confirming our appointment time, as well as his ETA. He arrived within minutes the scheduled time. He was prompt, courteous, professional, and introduced himself as Jacob Barnes. He was the Company Owner. Now, I am not sure if Jacob makes most/all of the initial consultation appointments, but… I was sure glad that the Owner was handling my case!
I peppered Jacob with questions. Un-phased, Jacob answered every question logically, thoroughly, and patiently. It was quick to discern that Jacob knew his stuff! I shadowed Jacob for much of his inspection. He took a battery of photographic evidence, often stopping and showing me his findings real time. He worked outside ground level and up to the 2nd story, and then onto the roof. He then inspected the attic over my garage, the attic of my main living quarters… (Donning shoe protectors, etc. Jacob was respectful to not getting my house dirty, etc..), and then my basement. His inspection, and the subsequent FORMAL report he sent me was convincing evidence that I needed to do something about not only a small bat problem, but an even bigger mouse problem in the garage attic that I was unaware of. Remember me balking at the cost of the Inspection and Proposal. His level of inspection and the time-effort-energy extended, more than justified that expense. If nothing else, by now I had a chance to get to know this Mr. Jacob Barnes. I found Jacob genuine and to be someone that I felt I could trust, and someone that I wanted to work with. Oh, and as I was prepared to pay him that day… he refused, and said he would bill me when all the work was completed, and not before. However, Jacob also added…. if I did NOT want to use his services, he would issue me an invoice in due time…. No high pressure sales attempt ever occurred!
As indicated, Jacob’s proposal was FORMAL and comprehensive. He clearly showed evidence to me the day of the inspection, and in the official proposal that supported his plan of attack. He also included a quote that was fairly clear to understand. This was not going to be a cheap proposition, so I called Jacob to walk me through the quote. The quote was an estimate based on his initial findings. His Labor rate was on the higher side, but fair for the type of work that was being done. I have learned over the years, you get what you pay for. After some Q&A with Jacob, a date was scheduled, and we waited for weather that would cooperate.
As the work date drew near, Melissa would call with a weather update a few days in advance of our scheduled appointment. The initial work had to be postponed several times due to inclement weather. However, it was a non-issue for me. Melissa would give me ample time to revise my week and any subsequent plans I had.
On the day they work was finally able to be conducted, a 4 man crew arrived on time and immediately went to work. They were painstaking in their tasks of sealing up my 25 year old house from literally the ground to the peak of the roof. No proverbial stone was left unturned to find and eliminate any opening that rodents could use as egress points. I was impressed.
Jacob arrived with his crew to tackle the job. During the course of the day I saw 1st hand that Jacob led his crew by example, as he did not limit himself to “Supervisory Functions” or the less-strenuous, easy jobs. I admire that.
After about 5 hours, the 4 man crew had completed the job. My yard and my house were free from construction debris, etc… Other than a few rodent “valves” that were barely noticeable, the only way you would have known the workers were there, were by the completed tuck pointing that had needed done for years. All the other modifications and corrections did not alter my house in the slightest.
Basically, the job entailed sealing my house from new critters, and evicting the ones that were already in there. Other than the escape hatches(the one-way “valves”) that were strategically placed in traffic areas, everything else was sealed up like a drum. Guards were added to my warped ridge-vent, eliminating access at those points, and Jacob even did some cosmetic touch-up on my furnace vent while he was on the roof! Bait stations were also placed around the house to address any rodent stragglers. All in all I was VERY impressed with the extent of work that Jacob and his crew had performed.
Once again, Jacob refused payment the day of service. I was concerned with him carrying these costs, especially for the labor, but… he insisted that I didn’t pay until 100% job completion. Next, we wait.
As part of the “eviction” process, Barnes does not trap or try to poison bats-rodents in the home, for obvious reasons. The eviction process forces bats-rodents to exit the few remaining points of egress, which is via the strategically placed one-way valves. Bats are not able to re-enter those valves, as they are not capable of humming bird-type maneuverability… which would be required. Mice evidently “can” reenter the valves in some cases, hence the bait stations outside on the parameter of the house.
Approximately 6 weeks later, the wait was over. Barnes sent a single, seasoned tech to the house(He was part of the original crew) to remove the one-way valves, seal up those exposed areas, and fog the attic spaces.
The attic fogging does require that you evacuate the house of persons-pets for approximately 2 hours, but… I just did work outside for the time and was not inconvenienced in the slightest. Upon re-entry there was no odor or otherwise any ill effects. I could not smell any of the fogging agent. (*I did shut the door to the room that had the attic access, and open the window and turn on the ceiling fan. That might have helped…?)
The ULV fogging agent that was used in order to wipe out the scent of the creatures that previously occupied those areas. This step was taken to eliminate my attic space from smelling like(and attracting) other rodents to what they would think was a living/nesting area.
After the final appointment I was invoiced for an amount slightly less than the original estimate. My point is that I was pleasantly surprised that I was not “stuck” by any extra-add on charges that I would have to debate/negotiate like I’ve seen done by other Companies.
Again, this was not a cheap proposition, but… it was a worthwhile investment for me and my family. I don’t want a colony of bats growing larger and larger and populating in my house. I don’t want mice chewing through electrical cables. I don’t want feces creating a mess and polluting the air with possible disease. The investment was worth it to me… and my ease of mind is priceless.
I took the time and effort to write this review for a two reasons. #1) If you are like me, word of mouth from an ACTUAL customer is worth more than any advertising slogan in order to get you “comfortable” to spend your money with someone. I am a demanding customer. I expect perfection from myself and companies/services in which I choose to do business. I can personally recommend Barnes Wildlife Control. PERIOD. Jacob is a young professional intent on building his business with quality service and satisfied customers. I am can vouch for Jacob and his Company. #2) Seldom does a company owner get praise when they do what is expected OR even when they do MORE than expected. However, EVERYONE will complain when something is not “perfect.” I wanted Jacob and Team Barnes to know that they exceeded my expectations and I would not hesitate for one second to use them again.
