We see a lot of different Do-It-Yourself repairs to keep animals out of your house everyday. It wasnt until last week in Beavercreek Ohio off Shakertown Drive that I found the ultimate of poor repairs and fixes to keep wildlife out of a home. This particular residence had rodent and squirrels entering through many gaps and openings on the home as well as the bathroom exhaust vent on the first floor. Instead of making the repair using the correct materials, they improvised and the photo shows it all; a soup can lid with holes punched out and nails wedged in to hold it all together! A simple vent cover installed over the vent would prevent future animal entry and allow the vent to work properly. This repair restricted air flow and burnt the fan motor up prematurely. It has now been replaced with the correct materials.
Example of a proper vent cover, Barnes Wildlife Control recommended HY-C Dryer Vent Guard – Single, can be found here.
